07/19/07 Sorry its been a while since the last update. A lot has happened since then.
We had a tuff beat by the Gamblers on July 12th which ended our season in a tie for 2nd place with the Gamblers.
Had a WIN against the Tonawanda Shamrocks at the Nike Base in the first round of the playoffs
And a Sweet WINNING battle with extra innings against the rival Gamblers, yesterday in the playoffs.
OK I gota go , have lots of pictures to post, C-Ya.

Nice win over Clarence girls. Krystin made a great catch at short and Taylor's throw to Brittany in the last inning clinched that game for us. The outfield was getting some action with Caity having a nice catch in right field. Jamies unbelievable double at first was just that (what a snatch)!. Once again our exceptional hitting and base running was key in the game. Bat girl did another excellent job at keeping the equipment straight and the Osbergs seemed to have a ball-magnet attached to them. There was also a bit of chair acrobatics to keep everyone amused during the lulls (: Wednesday will probably be another scorcher so remember to hydrate yourselves all day long. See everyone at the Nike Base.

Who's on a roll?? We are !! Another exciting win for the Vikings. Lots of good hitting and base stealing. Let's keep it up ladies, you got a busy week. We hope Liz is feeling better, she played a great game. The heat is enough to do anyone in, so keep drinking to keep yourself hydrated. Britt, you were robbed on your hit. See you tomorrow!

Great game girls. There wasn't a lot of exciting action shots at this game, but Scott got some different perspective photos from the outfield using a 2x lens (that gets in nice and close on the batter, but leaves a little to be desired in the quality department. ) Sunday's game against Lewiston will be a little tougher, maybe... Two of my favorite photos are 1. Kasey and Sam looking in 2 different directions for...??? 2. Jamie "bunting" with no bat . Remember the game time for Sunday's game was changed to noon (see ya at 11). Scott & I love the hats, thanks. Tomorrow I'll actually bring my camera!

Ladies- We were flipping through the pictures trying to decide which ones captured the winning plays of the tournament. The games all blended together which made the selection harder. We know that Jamie, Erika and Brittany had the other teams spinning in circles when they were stealing bases. Caity, Nikki and Taylor made great run-saving catches in the outfield. Krystin and Liz made a couple of awesome stops in the field (Krystin did one with the ball on TOP of her mitt). Nikki hit a home run (great shot, Nikki), Kasey and Lauren had triples (Britt, too?? --too hard to remember them all). And what about Sam's pitching?? Those girls stepped back from the plate and you know they were thinking, "There's NO WAY I can hit THAT". (the "Ice" were having a "Meltdown!"). Being unable to pick out one All-Star player or winning play of those games made us realize that it truly was a team effort. Teamwork. You ladies exemplified the word last weekend. We were all so proud of the way you played. Way to go girls! Congrats on a well played tournament.

Kasey blasts a HR, Erika and Jaime turn two and Taylor stops a hard hit fly to the outfield and in the end the Vikings mercy the Lewiston Silver Bullets fifteen to five in five innings. Great Game Girls!! Brittany and Caity were missed today but we still managed to pull out another victory and make it look pretty easy, too!. Everyone put forth a spectacular effort with Kasey making a rare appearance as our 3rd baseman and Liz filling in as our catcher. Check out the new animation of the double play. Don't forget to hand in your t-shirt order form ASAP to Mrs. Tilkins. See everyone at the next game!

After a game delaying adjustment to the pitchers mound our game against the Clarence Red Devils was Awesome!! Congrats to the girls for a fantastic victory, once again played in the scorching heat. Lauren, Sam & Kasey made a great play which led to a tag at home plate (see the animation at the lower left of this page). It was fun hanging out after the game and having an impromptu pizza party(thanks to Mrs. Sobieski for putting it together!)

May 30, 2007 ~~~ Today, the Grand Island Vikings played a repeat of Sundays tournament game against the Cayuga Gamblers in the 80 plus degree heat. However, the outcome was a disappointing 3 to 1 loss. Grand Island played a near flawless game, keeping the score at 1 to 1 until the 6th inning. The Gamblers have not lost a game yet, and we were all very encouraged that we would deliver that loss to them. We play them again, sometime in June and we'll settle the score at that time!! Our next game is on Saturday, June 2nd at home. See everyone there!!
